Aloha Waverider Ohana,
Hoe, Hoe! The new school year is here and we are excited for a wonderful, engaging and prosperous learning experience for our students, teachers, staff and community as we continue to espouse our vision to Unite and Move Forward: Pūpūkahi I Holomua. We are psyched for all the powerful opportunities for our students this school year and the new initiatives that teacher teams are spearheading. We will learn more about our two new initiatives: Inclusive Practices and Choose Love during our staff development days on July 31 and August 1, 2018.
I am grateful for all of the hard work our summer staff has completed. I am proud and humbled to work alongside them. Please make sure to thank them, especially our office, cafeteria and custodial staff, they continue to impress me with their dedication and commitment to our Waverider Ohana. And lastly, please thank our beloved registrar, Henry DeLima; he has been and continues to be so patient with our new bell schedule and making sure that all of our students are in their classes.
I love poetry and thought provoking quotes. Recently, a veteran principal shared the poem, “Cause I Ainʻt Got A Pencil,” with me. It really spoke to my heart regarding the compassion that is necessary that good teachers must have to impact them socially, emotionally and academically. This poem will serve as a lens for this school yearʻs work on Inclusive Practices and Choose Love.
My hope is that our students, parents, teachers and community members are an integral part of the Waverider Ohana. Please check our website regularly to see all the great opportunities and events at our school this year. I love to surround myself with creative, curious and solution based people. If you have an idea that you believe would inspire and empower our students to achieve and dream big about their futures please contact me. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
A Hui Hou,
